What you’re actually getting into

This one's a double feature. You'll paddle out onto Kawawaymog Lake in a 26-foot voyageur canoe — the same style used by fur traders two centuries ago, except now it's just you, a paddle, and a lot of quiet water at the edge of Algonquin Park. Everyone gets a PFD and a proper orientation before you push off, no experience required.

From there it's a hot lunch on the patio at the Broken Paddle, then a short drive to the trailhead where you pick your own adventure: an easy hour up Moose Mountain, or a longer two-hour push up the Tower Trail for the view that makes the whole day worth it.

“I didn't know voyageur canoes were even a thing you could just show up and do. Best paddle I've ever had.”

The photo dump

They came once, then twice…

“Didn't expect a work trip to Toronto to end with me paddling a 26-foot canoe on a Saturday. Unreal.”
“Do the Tower Trail. The view is stupid good and it’s the perfect length after a big lunch.”
“The soup at the Broken Paddle alone was worth the trip. The canoe and the hike were just bonuses at that point.”
